Regarding the topic medical care we developped the concept GANYMED – an atonomous surgery table and patient transport system.

GANYMED is a fully autonomous patient mobility system. It is made for a smart transport of people at a hospital stay. Inspired from the Segway principal and industrial robot arms GANYMED is not only a transport assistant but also an adjustable surgery table. It is made for a fast transport in different hospital situations and positions. The advantage is the robot arm adjustment system.

Adjustable segments carrying a special gel padding

GANYMED allows the individual repositioning of patients in various scenarios. That goes from laying in different height adjustments as well as sitting or standing support. A stand up aid for weak people is possible as well as a small footprint collapsing for storage. The table is divided into different segments. To comfort the patient in a long time laying situation and to avoid bedsores the ergonomic resting cushions contain special gel packs and individual movable pads. This enables the support and comfortable positioning of specific body parts.

The supporter plates underneath the cushions contain docking rails for different attachments e.g. surgery or transport equipment as well as different service plugs. The robot arm system holds and enables GANYMED to work in many different positions. The table can be moved from a lying position into a seating shape or any form required in a surgery. Every section is able to move automatically through a sophisticated mechanical suspension.

Energy supply via docking element

The base contains the Segway technique and mounting support for the whole arm structure. It has a pedestal for longer standing situations. This foot contains a special docking system for energy and service supply. Several docking points are placed on important locations in the hospital. Between the moving wheels the base contains a sensor and orientation system that is able to find its way inside the building self-sufficient and to avoid collisions. This enables autonomous patient transport without guiding personal.
